Blog 4: Pitch for the future

1.The problem I want to solve:

Increased life expectancy and lower fertility rates are driving this change. By 2100, the number of people over 60 may be closer to 4bn, nearly 60% of the global population.

Due to the lack of basic old-age and medical security in many countries, the coverage of old-age and medical security in the whole society is low, and many elderly people lack basic living security.

2.The key results I tried to achieve:

Use big data or Ai system to enable the elderly to realize their social value and make themselves more independent and confident

3.Important aspects of the environment or constraints:

It is necessary to understand the real problems of the elderly and which technologies will improve the aging society in the future.

The immature service industry and welfare policies for the elderly and the employment discrimination of the elderly affect the retirement life of the elderly. The rapid development of social science and Technology (intelligent mobile devices, etc.) makes it difficult for relevant scientific and technological products to be understood and used by the elderly, especially Alzheimer’s patients. Low technology penetration may mean that digital solutions are unlikely to succeed.

4.Thinking about the problems and visualize it.

Classify the content I collected (yellow note: human services, Blue Note: mechanical technology, pink: network or big data, green: Artificial Intelligence)
The table is classified according to the seven living needs of the elderly
Find out what we haven’t developed according to the development degree of the industry, and then study the future vision.

Through the demonstration, I found that what may happen in the distant future is more use of network big data technology to solve the problems of the elderly in an aging society.

5.HMW:

Goal:To design an Big Data/AI platform to help the elderly live an independent and happy life.

POV:An elderly living alone, he feels very lonely, many life things can not be done at home, he wants to be taken care of by his children but it is very difficult, because the children work in other cities far away from him.

HMW strategies:

Amp up the good:HMW make the system enables the elderly to realize their social values and make themselves more independent and confident

Remove the bad:HMW Let the elderly avoid losing dignity and privacy when they are taken care of

Explore the opposites: HMW make the elderly life without children become the happiest part of life

Question an assumption:HMW Let the system replace nursing workers and children to accompany the elderly

Go after adjective:HMW Turn “helplessness” into “security”

ID unexpected resource:HMW Use the data and knowledge obtained when helping an old man to educate and help other old people

Create an analogy from need or context: HMW Turn the pension system into a virtual elderly community platform or online hospital.

Play POV againat the challenge:HMW Let the pension problem no longer be the trouble of the elderly and the burden of their children.

Change a statue quo:HMW Let the old man’s independent life no longer so helpless and worried.
